Due to the space constraint and neater cable management, many people like to push their study desk to the wall with the back of the seat facing directly to the room door. In the perspective of Feng Shui, the door is entry of energy, so we shall avoid the Chi gushing directly to our body. Beside that, it will create unstable qi around your table and will affect your working or studying. The negative Feng Shui effect is the lack of support from the back.
What a “Study Desk Back Facing Door” Means in Feng Shui

Your back should be supported by a solid wall when sitting at your study/office desk. If you have your back facing the door, it will have negative effects like:
- It will give you a sense of insecurity and easily distracted.
- It symbolise lack of support/assistance from your benefactor (贵人).
- It will also attract back stabber in your office.
How to Remedy the Situation with Study Desk Back Facing Door
A. Shift the table to a commanding position

The best method is to move the seat to another location with a good wall backing and you can also see the entry of the room. This will give a sense of security and also attract support from more noblemen.
B. Place a 5 Emperor coin on the back of the seat

If there is no other possible location to shift your table/chair due to space constraint or in your work office where you have no say in your seat positioning, it will be good to place a 5 emperor coin at the back of your seat. If you do not want it to be too obvious, you can put it in a cushion and place it at the back of your chair.
